Details

Amine Hi-Sur Mag (1 µm) are hydrophilic magnetic beads with amine groups. These surface groups allow covalent bond formation to proteins/peptides via primary amine, carboxy or thiol groups. Oligonucleotides, antibodies or other ligands with these groups can be easily coupled to the beads. Activation through EDC or Sulfo-SMCC is required. Attribute to their very large surface area (about three times larger than that of the Amine Mono Mag (1 µm)) and unique surface coating, Amine Hi-Sur Mag (1 µm) exhibit superior binding capacity and low non-specific binding of protein or nucleic acids.

1. Can the magnetic beads be sterilized?
Yes, carboxylic acid or amine functionalized and silica coated magnetic beads can be sterilized by washing with 70% ethanol. Protein conjugated beads cannot be sterilized.

2. Can the magnetic beads be sonicated?
Yes, short time sonication (couple seconds up to 5 minutes) is a good way to reduce aggregation of the beads and create homogenous conditions for coating or coupling. However, we don’t recommend to sonicate our magnetic beads over 10 min especially for protein conjugated beads. 

3. Are magnetic beads compatible with organic solvent?
Our magnetic beads are compatible for most polar solvent such as ethanol, methanol, acetone, isopropanol, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dimethylformamide (DMF), and acetonitrile.

4. Are magnetic beads compatible with urea?
Yes, they are compatible with 6–8 M urea.

5. Are magnetic beads compatible with EDTA?
Yes, our magnetic beads are compatible with EDTA.
